How to make a Ceylon Balck Tea – OPA
Ingredients:
- Ceylon black tea leaves (OPA grade)
- Fresh cold water
- (Optional) Milk, sugar, lemon, honey to taste
Equipment:
- Teapot
- Teacups
- Teastrainer or infuser
- Kettle
- Spoon
Instructions:
- Boil fresh cold water in a kettle. Use 1 cup water per 1 teaspoon of tea leaves.
- Place the Ceylon black tea OPA leaves into a teapot or directly into a teastrainer/infuser. Use 1 tsp leaves per cup of water.
- When water reaches a rolling boil, take it off heat. Let it cool for 30 seconds.
- Pour the hot water over the tea leaves. Let steep for 3-5 minutes to fully infuse flavor.
- Taste the tea after 3 minutes. Steep longer if a stronger flavor is desired. But be careful not to oversteep or it may become bitter.
- When tea has reached desired strength, remove infuser or strain tea into teacups.
- Add any desired milk, sugar, honey or lemon to taste.
